BACKGROUND
The team behind Super League Futsal (SLF) first began indoor soccer competitions in 1991 on the Gold Coast. There had been very little exposure to the game on the Coast with the 1991 competition being the only competition operated on the Gold Coast that year. Bond University soon became the preferred venue and the competition grew to 50 teams over the next four years. Only open mens and mixed competitions were operational.
By the year 2000 the competition had regular following of the press, had prizes to the value of thousands of dollars and the standard of Futsal was very competitive and skilful. The year 2000 saw the Logan City Cavaliers from Brisbane take out the Summer Super Series Championship. The team travelling from Brisbane every week so they could play in the premier competition in Queensland.
The operational team then took a break from Indoor Soccer (or Futsal as we know it) and moved on to work at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, 2000 Paralympics games, major motor sport events and the Sydney Tennis International in various managerial capacities. Between 2002 and 2006 our director then took managerial appointments in operations at the Canberra Racecourse, Warner Village Theme Parks and the Gold Coast Convention Centre.
At the beginning of 2006 our director began Super League Futsal, and was soon operating Futsal competitions again on the Gold Coast. 2006 is the first time that SLF have ever provided competitions for juniors and we are one of a few organisations providing an avenue for children to participate in the sport on the Gold Coast. A sport that many Brazilian players played in their youth and is attributed to their very high skill levels.
SPORTS ADMINISTRATION & EVENT MANAGEMENT
Competition Managers have over 15 years experience in operating Indoor Sports competitions. Our managers between them have experience at over 3000 medium to mega events in Australia at venues such as Theme Parks, Convention Centres, Sports Grounds, Olympic Venues, Restaurants, Outdoor Pavilions and Motor Sport events.
WORKPLACE HEALTH AND SAFETY
No matter if it's a workplace or a sporting tournament, WHOS is a very important factor in the delivery of sport services. Super League Futsal as part of our team has a qualified WHOS officer with the Qld Industrial relations register.
Its our aim and policy to comply with legislative requirements and provide a safe working and sporting environment at our venues for employee's, volunteers, players and spectators.
FIRST AID
Super League Futsal staff are offered training in First Aid Certificates . We support St John's Ambulance.
